Karen J. Phillips put the DEAD in Deadspin when he decided to ruin little Holden Armenta's life. Holden is the kid who had his face painted for an NFL game like many, many, many other football fans do. Phillips claimed it was RAAAAAACIST to be in "black"face. Then when he realized he f*cked up, denied that he f*cked up and doubled down on the RAAAAACISM instead. Now young Holden is speaking out.

Before we get to young Holden's comments with his dad Bubba, there was a development in the story yesterday. Holden? He's NATIVE AMERICAN. And not in an "Elizabeth Warren" way. In a "his grandfather is an elder who sits on the board of a governing body" way.

Holden told Jesse Waters on Fox News that he was okay at first, because his classmates were getting excited for him. But then? "It’s starting to get me a little nervous because if they go a little bit overboard, it’s a little scary.”

Holden's father Bubba was more upset, “I was mad, upset. I’m mad that he’s upset. He’s pretty devastated. It was his dream to get on the Jumbotron. Everything else came up, and it’s been a little bit of a spiral.”

Not that they would get one, because Deadspin's Karen J. Phillips is a progressive douche and it would require him to admit what he did, but the Armentas don't want an apology. There's no point. "It’s kind of a little too late for that. The damage is already done. It’s worldwide. Now, there are comments all over. There’s disrespect towards my family."

Karen J. Phillips is everything wrong with the journalsiming clickbait industrial complex. It would be one thing if it was just a bunch of random idiots on X posting about a kid they saw on TV. And then a news outlet collected three of those tweets to create content under the guise of a "legit" news story.

Karen J. Phillips DEMANDED the NFL do something over a child -- one person in a stadium of 65,000 football fans that a cameraman decided to focus on -- because Karen has a political agenda. If it means ruining a nine-year-old's life for doing something sports fans have been doing for generations, so be it.

Deadspin should be embarrassed by themselves. But if they had any shame, they would have gone out of business years ago.
