Liberals and conservatives can debate each other and remain civil. But it's almost impossible to argue with a leftist. Sometimes it can be fun, sure, but usually, it ends with you needing to decompress on a heavy bag. Why? As our good friend Owen Benjamin (yes, contrary to what you read on Twitter) suggests, it's because of a lack of shared goals.

For example, take arguing about abortion and where life begins. The common ground used to be rape, incest, or the health of the mother. For some, common ground was safe, legal, and RARE with a heavy emphasis on the RARE. But as we saw last week, leftists want abortion up until right before the baby comes sliding out of the birth canal. And it some cases, right after. There's no common ground, no shared goal, when you support infanticide. There's nothing left to respectfully debate.

Maybe as leftists continue to take things too far, even uber-liberals will be turned off (see PBS NewsHour Panel Slams Ralph Northam for Pro-Infanticide Remarks and Ashton Kutcher Shares Powerful Pro-Life Video. Are We About to See a Cultural Shift?). Maybe some liberals will move more to the center, where we can get back to actual debates.

I wouldn't keep my hopes up though.
