This video of him rallying the troops in Jordan is a prime example why.

The reason we celebrate Jim Mattis so passionately is simple: We had eight years of presidential leadership which galavanted about the globe apologizing for America's greatness. Therefore it's not only refreshing to see an American be an unapologetic patriot, it's affirming. Patriotic Americans know the American military is the best in the world. How wonderful it is to have such a man leading the American military. That's a statement. No question mark needed there, so hold your "TYPO" tweets.
