Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat, is in support of at least some abortion restrictions. The Democrat Church of Aborted Choices won’t be pleased.
She made the comments during an interview with Dave Rubin. Thanks to the fine folks at Free Beacon for making a targeted clip.
I think the third trimester, unless a woman’s life or severe health consequences is at risk, then there shouldn’t be an abortion in the third trimester. I take a more libertarian position on this issue. That government really shouldn’t be in that place of dictating to a woman the choice that she should make. I think that there should be some restrictions though.
Look at me before you dash to the comment section: it’s not a perfect response. But considering some of the insane things coming out of the mouths of leftists lately (see WATCH: #DemDebate Calls for Abortion Rights for Transgenders Who are Actual Dudes and WATCH: Pete Buttigieg Completely Ignores Science to Justify Abortion), it’s at least a conversation starter. Starting a conversation is how we convert pro-choicers to pro-lifers. See also I’m Pro-Life (4th Edition) | Change My Mind.
Tulsi’s has more moderate views (from a current Democrat Party standpoint) about abortion as well as guns and identity politics than the rest of her party. One wonders if maybe Gabbard is targeting the “moderate” lane of the primary. Right now the moderate lane is just Biden. While there’s an over the top rope battle royal between all the other candidates in the coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs radical leftist lane. Maybe Tulsi’s plan is to be a Biden alternative. Or at least peel off enough support that they let her in the next debate.
Time will tell.
