New Report: FBI Encouraged 'Draw Muhammad' Garland Terrorist to Shoot?!
Remember last year when an Islamic Extremist shot up Pam Gellar's "Draw Muhammad" contest in Texas (see Famous American Muslim Claims Pam Geller Is “Worse Than ISIS” On Air and Draw Muhammad Winner Banned From Facebook, Now Reinstated)? Well, according to new reports, the FBI knew about it.
And possibly egged the shooter on...
Days before an ISIS sympathizer attacked a cartoon contest in Garland, Texas, he received a text from an undercover FBI agent.“Tear up Texas,” the agent messaged Elton Simpson days before he opened fire at the Draw Muhammad event, according to an affidavit filed in federal court Thursday.
“U know what happened in Paris,” Simpson responded. “So that goes without saying… No need to be direct.”
That revelation comes amidst a national debate about the use of undercover officers and human sources in terrorism cases. Undercover sources are used in more than half of ISIS-related terror cases, according to statistics kept by the George Washington University Program on Extremism, and civil liberties advocates say some of those charged might not have escalated their behavior without those interventions.
So, if I'm reading this correctly, and I think I am...the FBI knew about the shooter, was in communication with the shooter, knew what the shooter's plan was...and instead of taking the shooter out, triple dog dared him into going through with his plans.
Um. Okay. Is this like a reverse psychology thing? Was shameless sarcasm used and the shooter didn't realize it? Or was the FBI agent here completely out of line, and needs to learn how to color in the lines a little better next time (he should check out the video below for more on keeping colors in the lines).
Obviously it's hard to definitively say what the heck happened here without pulling out our speculation tools. Of which I'll do now. To me, in my opinion, ALLEGEDLY (that should be enough disclaiming) it appears (one more ambiguous word for good measure) the FBI agent wanted the shooting to occur. I'm not sure how else one would interpret "Tear up Texas" if one is an unhinged Muslim who gets triggered when Muhammad is turned into a Saturday morning cartoon. "Tear up Texas" is rather a long way off from "Calm the EFF down, you whacko bird." Yes?
But hey, I'm just a racist. There could be a million bajillion reasons to tell a person with terroristic tendencies to tear up Texas. Maybe one of which is so you could sweep in "after the fact" and "save the day" to show off to all your Facebook friends. Even though you "knew" the shooting was going to happen. Just spit balling.
Next time, stay in the lines. Here, let us demonstrated:
