Sanity Prevails: VA Supreme Court Gives Win To Teacher Fired Over Forced Pronouns

Finally, we have secured a little bit of sense in the nonsense known as one's “preferred pronoun.”
According to Alliance Defending Freedom:
“In a sweeping victory for free speech and religious freedom, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled Thursday that it would reinstate a lawsuit alleging the West Point School Board violated a high school teacher’s rights protected by Virginia law when it fired him for avoiding the use of personal pronouns to refer to one of his students.
Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys represent Peter Vlaming, who taught French in the district for nearly seven years. The West Point School Board fired Vlaming after he stated he couldn’t in good conscience comply with the superintendent’s demand that he refer to one of his students using pronouns inconsistent with the student’s sex. Vlaming tried to accommodate the student by consistently using the student’s new preferred name and by avoiding the use of pronouns altogether. But school officials ordered him to stop avoiding the use of pronouns to refer to the student, even when the student wasn’t present, and to start using pronouns inconsistent with the student’s sex.
‘Peter wasn’t fired for something he said; he was fired for something he couldn’t say. The Virginia Supreme Court rightly agreed that Peter’s case against the school board for violating his rights under the Virginia Constitution and state law should proceed,’ said ADF Senior Counsel Chris Schandevel, who argued before the court on behalf of Vlaming. 'As a teacher, Peter was passionate about the subject he taught, was well-liked by his students, and did his best to accommodate their needs and requests. But he couldn’t in good conscience speak messages that he doesn’t believe to be true, and no school board or government official can punish someone for that reason.’”
This is my favorite quote from the attorney: “Peter wasn’t fired for something he said; he was fired for something he couldn’t say.”
This man could not, and would not, go against his conscience and acquiesce to the evil notion that Joe can become Sally and Sally can become Joe. He even tried to meet the lunatics in the middle. But that was simply not good enough for these grammatically incorrect authoritarians.
Forcing someone to say something is obviously not something the Constitution permits the government to do. The government is not meant to limit our powers. We are meant to limit them. So I don’t have to tell you how infuriating it is that we have to “fight” for our God-given freedoms. But here we are. In 2023. Doing just that.
We all know the government has no right to force you to say anything. They even knew that. But they need to change definitions and words to cause the chaos and destruction they are hoping for. So they don't care about that little thing called the Constitution. They go further and further to the left until they finally get that finger-pointing that tells them they have gone just a step too far.
Since when did students get to demand what teachers can and cannot say? What a total clown show we have as the inmates are now running the asylum.
