Stevie Wonder Thinks You're an Idiot for Denying Man-Made Climate Change

Brodigan
September 13, 2017

Call me very superstitious, but whenever you get a bunch of celebrities on TV, it's impossible for one of them not to say something stupid. Politically or otherwise. Signed, sealed, delivered, it's gonna happen. Like last night on the Hand in Hand telethon, to raise money to help for hurricane recovery. They didn't even make it through the first song before Stevie Wonder wanted to give a "science" "lesson."

We’ve come together today to love on the people who have been devastated by the hurricanes. When love goes into action, it prefers no color of skin, no ethnicity, no religious beliefs, no sexual preferences, and no political persuasions. It just loves.

Ok, that's nice. I don't get why people are--

As we should begin to love and value our planet. And anyone who believes that there’s no such thing as global warming must be blind or unintelligent. Lord, save us all.

Get it? He's blind, and he's saying that YOU'RE blind! It's funny!

To be fair, there have been worse comments (see Bill Maher Thinks it’s Unfair to Give Hurricane Relief to ‘Climate Deniers.’ and Bill Nye Wants Your Grandparents to Die. For Climate Science). And regardless of Stevie's politics, Songs in the Key of Life is still the bomb album.

But for me, it goes back to changing hearts and minds. What heart and/or mind do celebrities think they're changing when they politicize a telethon for hurricane relief? Or any telethon. Because even people who agree with them politically are growing tired of it. Just sing the songs. Talk about coming together. Find common ground in music and basic humanity. Let's not swerve head-on into climate change of the hot hots and shame people who are skeptical about higher taxes lowering emissions or something. Cool?

Also, where was all the "OMG, CLIMATE CHANGE" when there were no hurricane disasters for years and years and years? Asking for a friend. But a natural segue into this video. See what I did there?
