Unionized strip clubs are a thing in Los Angeles. Which is the most Los Angeles thing I have ever heard.

Per NBC 4:

“North Hollywood dancers who made history as the country’s first unionized strippers went on strike Thursday and will continue their work stoppage for a few days.

Strippers employed by the Star Garden Topless Dive Bar gathered to picket outside the club in an effort to call for fair labor practices. According to lawyers representing the union, the club interfered with employees’ ability to earn tips, took disciplinary actions against some dancers and the club’s owner is accused of refusing entry to union supporters and charging them higher fees than other customers.

Attorneys for the Actors’ Equity Association, which represents the dancers, filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) over the allegations. Unionized employees of the club are in the middle of negotiating their contract with Star Garden.”

Well, at least they said they would “do their best” when it comes to “performing” during the strike.

Only in Los Angeles will you see people unionize when they are profiting from degeneracy!

It also appears that management may be trying to union bust.

“Basically, we have been negotiating our contract and we haven’t seen movement in the direction we would like to see it,” an employee said to NBC4 in a comment. “Conditions in the club have also been really challenging. There’s been a lot of union busting from management and it’s gotten to the point where it has become a bad work environment for us and this is our plea to the NLRB to intervene and make this a fair workplace for us.”

The exotic dancers have been unizoned for over a year and are part of the Actors' Equity Union, according to the press release. This is no surprise because they probably are on par with most actors’ talent.

I guess this means that the ugly stripper will be getting the same amount as the better-looking one.

I don’t doubt that the strippers “work” in terrible conditions. I also don’t doubt that management is scum. But I highly doubt that unionizing would get them more money. I don’t know. But wouldn’t you think that would be the case?

But the sad reality is that most people who work at strip clubs are on drugs. This is why it is not compassionate to condone degenerate behaviors. You ultimately enable their self-destruction.

According to this study from 2011:

“Seventy-four percent reported ever having been arrested. Twenty-six percent reported having injected heroin and 29% reported having smoked crack in the past 3 months. Fifty-seven percent reported using drugs in the club in the past 3 months. Sixty-one percent had ever engaged in transactional sex, and 67% of those did so for the first time after beginning to dance. Forty-three percent reported selling any sex in the club in the past 3 months.

These findings indicate that there are a number of drug- and sex-related harms faced by exotic dancers in strip clubs, implicating the environment in the promotion of HIV/STI risk-taking behaviors.”

It is not compassionate to be in favor of this type of “work” when it is clear that it is almost always correlated with drugs, addiction, abuse, and degenerate behaviors.

Nearly 90 percent of women in the sex industry were sexually abused as a child. These traumas should be addressed as it is pretty obvious there is a correlation between the two things.

Sex work has probably the highest percentage of “workers” with problems and abuse that are correlated with that behavior. This is one reason why it is so incredibly stupid and evil when the left pretends that by condoning this behavior, this makes them the “passionate” ones.
