UK Student Reprimanded for...WATCHING Dave Rubin and Ben Shapiro?
This is getting stupid. There's a reason we broke up with England. And we are never, ever, ever getting back together. Americans have free speech. As much as said freedoms may trigger soy-eating leftist doucheburritos. Or perhaps that's vegan fish-and-chips nomming gits. In the UK, each sentence could have me arrested (see "Count Dankula" Convicted for Hate Crime Over Teaching Pug Nazi Tricks and Lauren Southern Banned From Entering the UK Over Her ‘Extremism’). In the same country which brought us Shakespeare, Tolkien, and Monty Python, no less. The country doth protest too wimpily methinks.
Now we have reports of a UK student being reprimanded for simply watching a Dave Rubin and Ben Shapiro video.
I did not know what to say, that was what I could remember from their obviously nicely pre-prepared speech and after that I wrote on my phone not to forget. I tried to reason with them saying that I am listening to people with different opinions on topics I am interested, I said that those videos are not Nazi or communist or extremist recruiting videos, they are just interviews. Why are they classified and put along with hateful content that you speak of?
A few things. This is all according to the student. There could be a few details he chose not to share. Plus no one was arrested. Yet. Based on what we know, it's just another leftist university being a leftist university.
The problem here is that a casual conversation between a gay liberal and a Jewish conservative is considered "hate speech" and "AltRight." Words have literally lost all meaning, and I'm pretty sure that's a rare, accurate use of the word "literally." If not, it doesn't matter, does it? If you're offended... well, you may be able to imprison people for misusing "literally" in England.
A UK student can get in trouble, not for sending the video out specifically to troll SJWs or other progressive assclowns. If the kid was being a jerk, you could mayhaps understand him getting a stern talking to. Like "hey, please use headphones fine sir" at most.
However, now we have students in trouble simply for watching a discussion between two people the objectors may or may not agree with. Just because they have something to say slightly different than the designated approved thoughts deemed appropriate by an elitist class of leftists.
Let that sink in.
And if you think this couldn't happen here because of the First Amendment, know that liberals wish it could. They hate the First Amendment for this very reason and look at the UK with envy.
