Uh Oh. So Far, No Footage of Attack on Jussie Smollett Has Been Found
Firstly, the absence of footage doesn't mean the attack didn't occur. Okay? Okay. But after police have scoured hours of surveillance footage, in a city which must have a lot of security cameras, and nothing has come up supporting this alleged hate crime against little-known actor Jussie Smollett... pardon me if I'm a teensy bit skeptical. From the AP:
CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police say they’ve reviewed hundreds of hours of footage from downtown surveillance cameras but haven’t found footage yet of the alleged attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett.
The department said in a news release late Tuesday that detectives reviewed footage from privately-owned cameras near where Smollett says he was attacked and will broaden their search by reviewing footage from traffic cameras and public bus cameras.
Okay, so sure Jussie Smollett may have been attacked and we still don't have a video of it. Despite police having looked at hundred hours of video in and around where the attack supposedly occurred. An attack that supposedly happened at 2 am in a part of the world which is, for the time being, colder than the arctic tundra. Chillier than Hillary's glare.
Maybe I'll regret typing this, but I'm just not sure there are people hateful enough to hunt for a gay black man at 2 am in subzero temperatures, prepared with rope and bleach. Just me?
