The first decent Trump/Hillary sketch in a while on SNL. Last season was funnier (see SNL’s Finale Just Brutal on Hillary Clinton: ‘I really don’t like people…’ and SNL Perfectly Highlights Hillary Clinton’s Desperate Campaign…). Unfortunately the writers realized they had to join the effort to drag Hillary across the finish line. So while SNL was once a comedy show, as of late it’s been more of a propaganda wing for the DNC.
So this last sketch of the season came as a surprise. No, it’s not positive for Trump. At all. But the sketch still clearly paints how desperate Hillary Clinton is.
As a contentious election season nears a close, we find ourselves longing for that cliché beauty pageant answer: world peace. Which is exactly what Saturday Night Live gave us during its open this weekend.
Of course, before calling for a verbal ceasefire, our candidates Hillary Clinton (Kate McKinnon) and Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin) exchanged blows, after all writers had a lot of material to work with this week.
FBI Director James Comey’s announcement of additional Clinton emails didn’t go unaddressed by Erin Burnett (Cecily Strong).
Putting aside all the basic accusations of “racism” and “sexism” and the like, I do agree with two concepts in the sketch.
- Hillary is desperate. Really desperate.
- This election season really has brought out the worst in Americans. I’m ready for it to be over. This whole debacle has become a referendum on personalities, to the point where legitimate issues are a distant memory.
Looking at the campaign as a whole, the GOP really should give Kate McKinnon an award. Up until last month, no one defined Hillary Clinton more effectively. As a corrupt, desperate, pandering witch-lady.
