Donald Trump, as the cliche goes, is a lot like a box of chocolates. You really never know what you're going to get. Occasionally, he tweets a raisin cluster. Other times, you score a truffle loaded up with gooey caramel. This speech is most definitely the latter. If this is his message next week and for the rest of the campaign, he will get re-elected.

Trump needs to focus on three things: being a happy warrior, being a voice for the voiceless, and laying out what exactly is at stake in terms that appeal to more than just the MAGA fanbois. That's why I thought this was a great speech, because there are a lot of people who, if we're being honest, don't like Trump. He's not everyone's shot of tequila, plus he's a teetotaler on top of that. But while they don't like Trump, they also don't like Biden or the Democrats. They've also, because of the shutdown, had nothing to do but watch the news for examples of how much they don't like the left. Or suffered from leftist politicians' tyrannical shutdown orders. Or been personally attacked by leftist friends and family members if they ever offer the slightest different opinion on something on Facebook. Normal, not typically conservative or even politically-minded to begin with people have been popping red pills like it's hydroxychloroquine.

You don't have to love Trump. It's okay to not even like Trump. I'm personally with you most of the time there. But the left has made it clear what they have planned if they ever get control of this country and what they'll do to anyone who dares disagrees with them about anything. That's what's at stake. That's what Trump needs to lay out to the American people.
