Tony Blair Throws Down. Demands 'Flabby' Liberals Fight Back Against Terrorists...
Brace yourselves. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has made a few surprisingly reasonable comments in light of the recent Brussels attacks (26 dead in Brussels Terror Attack. You #PrayForPeace, I'll Pray for Wisdom and Resolution). He certainly doesn't get it right all of the time... but this time he issued a liberal smackdown of grand proportion.
Tony Blair has warned against 'flabby liberalism' and says there needs to be a tougher centre ground approach to issues such as tackling extremism and responding to the refugee crisis. He warns that too often the West can "be made to feel guilty about itself" and fails to make its case. "We're in a situation where we have to fight back," said Mr Blair.
Ah, it feels so good to finally hear a European leader say what we've all known since we were old enough to brush our own teeth: liberalism is for wimps. Although Blair's admission is also slightly terrifying. Things have to get pretty bad in order for leftists to throw caution to the wind and actually dissent from the cookie-cutter "tolerant" mold.
"The centre has become flabby and unwilling to take people on. We concede far too much. There's this idea that you're part of an elite if you think in terms of respectful tolerance towards other people. It's ridiculous," Mr Blair told the BBC.
Someone who is definitely not far right is actually calling out the moral high horse of the left. If he can do it, why can't others (read ISIS and Refugees: Why David Cameron's UK Migrant Policy is a Disaster)? Is this the beginning of a beautiful awakening?
"But you know, we shouldn't let people intimidate us into thinking there are certain values we shouldn't be standing up for... I'm a supporter of multiculturalism. But there's been a long period of time when we've allowed the concept of multiculturalism to be abused."
So much win. European leaders, you have officially been implored to act. By none other than a British-accented former Prime Minister. He's got it all. The pomp, the circumstance, the inability to pronounce 'Rs' properly. That checks all the boxes for the elitist left.
Time to focus on the issues. If not, get out of the way and cover your ears while the adults talk about a solution to the problem. The Western hemisphere is sick of waiting.
