A thug assaulted a four-year-old in Times Square over the weekend. It's both shocking and not shocking. It's shocking that a four-year-old was assaulted by a man who was arrested 40 times prior. It's not shocking that this takes place in New York City. Liberal policies such as bail reform have made many crimes borderline legal. It's gotten so bad that Al Sharpton needs to keep his toothpaste locked up.

Times Square is supposed to be the one area in NYC that is safe for children.

The dude literally sucker-punched a four-year-old. Security footage obtained by the New York Post shows the thug walking up to the kid from behind, punching him in the head, and try walking away.

The thug in question is 34-year-old Babacar Mbaye. Mbaye has sixteen prior misdemeanor convictions in a record that dates back to 2009. He has three "open misdemeanors" for assaulting strangers. The reason why Mbaye was in Times Square was that he was out on "supervised release" for other attacks. Mbaye is being charged with felony assault and reckless endangerment for assaulting the four-year-old.

His excuse to police was that he, quote, "drunk a whole bottle of hand sanitizer" and shouldn't have struck a kid. If you wonder why a man with three open convictions was free to drink sanitizer and assault a four-year-old, it's an excellent question New York City voters should think about when they vote in November.

Thankfully, the kid is okay.
