Speaking of which... in a plot twist sure to please Ariana Huffington herself, the mayor of New Hope, Texas has officially come out as transgender.

Mayor Herbst posted a letter on the town's website explaining her transition from Jeff to Jess and her decision to live her life as a female.

Herbst was served as city alderman since 2003 and was just appointed as mayor last May. She's now coming out as transgender, something she says she's known about her whole life. "For the last six months, the only time I've ever dressed as a man was at city council meetings," she explained.

"Just get to know me before you judge me," the mayor said.

"I do hope that it helps people understand that we are just normal people like everyone else," she said.

Notice something interesting about the "coming out" stories of gays, trannies, and all the other parcels of queerness in between? They always seem to claim simple wants. For example tolerance, or "to be treated normally." Whilst publicly drawing attention themselves. Take Zoey Tur for instance. He/she's the manlady who wanted to WWE Ben Shapiro into the afterlife (see Transgender Violently Threatens Ben Shapiro for Calling Him... 'Sir'?!). The left demands you act "normally" in these situations. Meanwhile, pay no mind to the lipsticked ogre behind the curtain.

A friendly piece of advice to LGBT and friends: want to be treated normally? Then act normally. Coming out as transgender while holding public office? Not normal. Demanding special attention and protected victim status? Also not normal. Try again.
