Ted Cruz Releases Explosive New Immigration Ad...and it's Perfect
The Iowa Caucus is less than a month away, and Ted Cruz is pulling no punches. He released a new ad focusing on the illegal immigration crisis. Hey, that Ted Cruz, he's tough on illegal immigration (read Ted Cruz Delivers Best Illegal Immigration Answer Ever!)
The clip, which shows men and women in suits running through streams and over tough terrain, promotes Cruz’s determination to double down on the popular GOP talking point of border control but is noteworthy because it tackles the issue from a new perspective. The commercial examines illegal immigration through an economic lens, asking what would happen if the people entering the United States unlawfully were coming with law or journalism degrees. Here, Cruz pulls no punches, proving a point to leaders and voters in both parties: The borders are not as secure as they could be now because securing them wouldn’t have any benefits for elites. What is often overlooked in the immigration debate is the fact that those who are coming into the country illegally are not taking high-paying jobs. Instead, they are taking meager wages under elite business owners and influencers, who, in turn, are benefitting from the country’s sub-par border security.
It must be effective, because it has caused Donald Trump to go full birther on Cruz. I'd like to call that "reaching" but it's just too funny. Still, if anyone is going to call anyone out on their citizenry, Trump is the guy. Hey, maybe Cruz stopped taking his calls.
The brilliance of this ad needs little explanation, which is why I'm going to keep it short. Illegal immigration has become a classist issue, where the elites aren't really that affected. Their jobs are not taken. In fact it's these same elites who deign to say "illegal immigrants take jobs no American will work for," while then promoting the insane idea that low to no skilled workers should get paid $15 an hour. See what's happening there? "Oh, you shouldn't take that job, it's beneath you! Also, you need more money for that job!" Thus ensuring a constant victim class of idiots.
Well then comes Cruz and removes that argument. What if the people coming across the boarder illegally were taking your jobs and affecting your livelihood? You elitist pigs (subtext).
