Cable TV is on a quest to rid the movie world of all things mean and scary. Not things like violence or moral depravity, just more along the lines of whatever it deems "problematic" (see CAUGHT: HLN Censors Baby-Saving Hero's Pro-Trump Shirt). Like the word "terrorism."

The offender at hand? Back to the Future features a scene that mentions terrorism. Apparently, TBS takes issue with that...

While showing part one of "Back to The Future," TBS edited out the word "terrorists" and glossed over as if it had never been said. Despite the word "terrorists" not being a curse word or sexually explicit, Turner decided the word merited censorship.

After Marty McFly accidentally goes back in time, he tries to seize the opportunity to warn [Doc] Brown's younger self about [a] terrorist attack. He pens a letter in which he outlines the events that took place the night he went back in time.

If you pay close attention, you not only hear the word "terrorists" has been completely removed, but they also change the angle of the camera so as not to pick up the word "terrorists" from the letter McFly was writing.

Such quick fixes get sneaked in on a regular basis. It's becoming quite the norm these days. After all, the Obama administration led by example when it came to censorship.

Nice try, TBS. Much like Europe is learning, ignoring problematic terrorists doesn't make them disappear. If it were so, unwanteds like Chelsea Clinton would have stopped being a thing long ago.

More importantly though, WHY did TBS remove the reference to terrorists? The terrorists themselves are presumably still at the pivotal scene, shooting the Doc into Swiss cheese. So their presence on camera isn't the issue, but their label of "terrorist" is? Is "terrorist" soon to be a new "hate" word to be banned from college campuses and all places of "reason"? An interesting thought.

Speaking of the liberal silencing machine...
