I get that the last thing a 13-year-old boy wants to be doing is writing a book report about World War II. I am sure they would rather do just about anything but that. But what I don’t get is why a 13-year-old would threaten to shoot up a synagogue. And what I don’t get even more is the lack of punishment for those evil threats. It does not take a genius to know that shooting at anyone, let alone a synagogue, is bad. Heck, even a four-year-old knows not to shoot up a school.

According to CNN:

“A 13-year-old Ohio boy who allegedly crafted ‘a detailed plan’ to carry out a shooting at a synagogue in September reached a plea agreement with a juvenile court Friday, requiring him to undergo counseling and write a book report about a diplomat who organized a Jewish rescue operation during World War II, according to a Stark County, Ohio, court administrator.

The teen, who has not been identified, was sentenced to 180 days in a juvenile detention center, but the judge credited him 10 days for time already served and suspended the rest of the sentence. His juvenile trial was scheduled to begin Wednesday but was canceled because of the plea agreement.

Instead, the judge ordered the teenager to be on probation for 12 months, during which time he will have to receive counseling services and is not allowed to have ‘unsupervised use of the internet,’ according to court documents.
The teen was also mandated to read a book about Carl Lutz – a Swiss diplomat credited with saving thousands of Hungarian Jews during World War II – and 'submit a book report to the probation department,’ the court paperwork states.'”

Basically, a boy threatened to mass murder a bunch of Jewish kids and was subsequently released back to his parents to write a book report.

Is this how the White House is planning on combating Islamophobia?

What a total joke. Kid makes a detailed plan that he presumably intended to come to fruition and he gets sentenced to writing a book report. That is just sick. This is not some “kids will be kids” crap. The kid is messed up in the head and writing an essay won’t do much to rehabilitate him, in my opinion.

This kid is pretty evil and deranged. He needs to serve some serious time. This sends the message to other kids that they can get away with abhorrent things like this. Since when do people get a slap on the wrist for threatening a school shooting?

Does the court think an essay will fix him? I just hope the World War II hero he writes about is not Hitler.
