Actually, the banks giving them interest free loans has nothing to do with the government, so the separation of church and state still applies.
What would apply is if a Christian, or person of any other religious persuasion, wasn’t given an interest free loan. To do so only for muslim death-cultists (who follow the words of the false-prophet mohammed, who was a pedophile), would open them up to prosecution just like the bakers got for not wanting to participate in a gay wedding. According to what the Supreme Court decided, the 14th Amendment and Due Process would be brought into play as well as religious discrimination. Only thing is, I highly doubt there’s a single, judge in all of Seattle that would take the case, since I believe they are all progressive liberals.
Thomas, your points are will taken. However, regarding your first paragraph, it is a state sanction. The Housing Committee is part of Mayor’s office and report to him. Community “leaders”, we know well how “independent they are in current times, undoubtedly they work directly with Mayor.
So, the argument about govt sanctioned religious exception/exemption is a factual point. I wonder why no conservative activists or lawyers have not addressed this govt/religious favoritism when Christians are being persecuted by govt.?

Ok people, this is easy. Just charge them an administrative processing fee equal to 150% of the loan. The fee can be paid up front and/or the unpaid balance of the fee spread out over the coarse of the loan. The percentage can change to keep the fee in line with interest for the typical loan. This is not rocket science. But don’t think just because somebody has a religion that forbids paying interest that they won’t pay for the loan. You’ll see banks moving out of Seattle really fast if that was the case.
What everybody is forgetting is that there is a tax write of for home loan’s interest payments. All these Muslims won’t be able to take advantage of that.
I wonder if the federal “Truth in Lending” regulations will need to be waived under coming Sharia-friendly Seattle laws? Will lenders be directed NOT to show borrowers the paperwork related to annual percentage rate?
The banks will have to charge more for loans to non-Muslims, to make up for the shortfall of giving the money to Muslims interest-free. We are heading for Dhimmitude.

Banks will offer home-financing arrangements in which the payments don’t have an ‘interest’ part, as Sharia defines it. But the Muslim will still pay for the cost of the money. All this changes the risk of the loan, and any extra cost for the risk will be charged to the Muslim.

For businesses something like issuing ‘preferred stock’ appears to comply with Sharia law. The ‘lender’ gets a share of what the ‘borrower’ produces in a month, until some agreed “It’s paid off.” But since the ‘lender’ is taking risk it does need a mullah’s blessing that it isn’t gambling either.

Years ago I read a story out of Boulder CO. Boulder requires landlords to pay interest on security deposits. Since a devout Muslim couldn’t get an exception from that rule, the Muslim refused to rent an apartment and lived in a motel.

Loan companies cannot operate without charging (interest, service charges ect) for their service. In order for companies to provide jobs and continue to operate they have to MAKE money which they cannot do without interest on loans as well as service fees. Let the muslims save enough money to buy a house or open a business if they don’t want to pay interest like the working masses.

The northwest is not all in on this stupidity, because my state, the state of Idaho is part of the Northwest and we refuse to do anything this stupid. There are also many vets here who would stand up to this kind of stupidity and the state government knows better than to try it. I guess that is why there are not too many Muslims here. Yes we have had our share of stupid people try stupid things but the majority eventually takes care of the problem. If this was tried here I see quite a few Muslims disappearing to never be seen again, unless some one stumbles on their body in the woods, because unfortunately we still have enough of that kind of a population here.

If their religion does not allow paying interest, then they should not buy a house until they can pay cash for the purchase. Same goes for credit cards, etc.
What a great topic for a podcast!!! I don’t know much about sharia financing but what I do know is it’s like taking a white horse and painting it black. Instead of interests a fee is charge and/or the home or car being puchased is purchased by the bank and the total amount of the ‘non-loan’ is inflated so I he bank can recoup their money and expenses…I *think* that is how it’s done. Overall the Muslim family still pays some sort of financial consideration over and above the amount of money the item and maybe *maybe* the amount comes out the same or less but it’s doubtful. Almost every financial institution around the world offers “Islamic banking” which includes “Islamic mortgages”. They are interest free in name only. The lender still generates “interest” comparable to market rates but it’s just that it’s structured as “rent payments” on the property. To say that they’re getting loans “interest free” is incorrect.
