Sarah Sanders Blasts the Media for Roseanne Hypocrisy

Brodigan & Kirchoff
May 30, 2018

I thought for sure the president was going to say something about Roseanne (see BREAKING: ABC Cancels 'Roseanne' Reboot After Valerie Jarrett Comments and Roseanne Revenge: There's a Push to Get Bill Maher Fired) while he was living tweeting Fox & Friends. Instead, he waited a little bit with this gem.

Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that “ABC does not tolerate comments like those” made by Ros… https://t.co/6mbr4M5sW2

Dude, you're the President of the United States. The leader of the free world. Grow some thicker skin. Also, aren't you the guy who called Ted Cruz's wife ugly? Was that before or after you accused his father of shooting Kennedy? Sit this one out, son.

Which is not to say there isn't a point to be made about hypocrisy. A point more eloquently made by Sarah Sanders. Or Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Or Sarah Huckabee. I think we need an AP Style ruling on her name because I see it each way.

“The president is pointing to the hypocrisy in the media, saying that the most horrible things about this president and nobody addresses it. Where was [Walt Disney Company CEO] Bob Iger‘s apology to the White House staff for Jemele Hill calling the president and anyone associated with him a white supremacist? To Christians around the world for Joy Behar calling Christianity a mental illness? Where was the apology for Kathy Griffin going on a profane rant against the president on The View after a photo showed her holding President Trump’s decapitated head? And where was the apology from Bob Iger for ESPN hiring Keith Olbermann after his numerous expletive-laced tweets attacking the president as a Nazi and even expanding his role after that attack against the president’s family?”

Multiple things can be true at once. Roseanne said a stupid, racist, nasty thing. True. Media attacked her where they didn't attack the long list of douchenuggets who came before. Also true. Media is a flaming bag of two day old dog poo the mentally challenged teenage neighbor kid keeps leaving on your freshly waxed car. True. Media unfairly treats real conservatives and maligns them at every opportunity and twice during an election season. Also true. All of this Sarah Sanders Huckabee Sarah Swanson formerly Known as Not Sean Spicer, said. In a more mature fashion than the guy with the insatiable urge to tweet exclamation points.

This blatant hypocrisy riles up a lot of my colleagues on the right. I get it. Even though I still say it's ok to just sit this one out. Save the outrage for down the road when it's not someone like Roseanne. Who is a complete wacko bird.
