BOOM! Sage Steele Says ESPN Should Cool it with the Politics...
Add Sage Steele to the list of people who think ESPN should stick to sports and leave politics to the experts. Lately that's not a word I would use for the press, so it's more for lack of a better phrase.
If you don't know who Sage Steele is, shes's the co-host of SportsCenter AM... on ESPN.
I truly believe, for me, there is a time and place. For the most part, I think we leave that to the news networks. “When there is an obvious crossover, like Colin Kaepernick, that is a different situation, and we will have in-depth discussions beforehand to talk about the proper way to handle it. But I think it’s a very fine line, like I do believe that people come to us for their sports. Not everybody agrees with me on that, not everybody I work with agrees with me. That’s my personal opinion, that that’s where we go to escape.
My, what an interesting idea. Sports channels talking sports, instead of ramming leftist politics down our throats (see Moronic ESPN Removes ‘Robert Lee’ from Game. Because ‘Robert E. Lee’ is Triggering! and MORON ALERT: ESPN Host Says Standing for Anthem is “Injecting Politics” into Sports…). I believe Ms. Steele is on to something.
I'd argue that ESPN has done more to damage Colin Kaepernick's career than even he has. Sure, he's an America-hating douchemeister for not standing for the anthem. But, the more forgiving fans might have given him a pass if ESPN didn't air the footage on a 24-hour loop. It was ESPN's non stop coverage of hot takes and leftist opinions that turned Kaepernick into Mr. sports-meets-politics.
ESPN isn't showing any signs of slowing their roll, either. Some even believe the network cut back on hockey and baseball coverage with the latest layoffs to make room for more politics.
This conundrum isn't limited to sports. Leftist politics have metastasized into every nook and cranny of our culture. Good luck if you seek a brief respite from the constant barrage of leftism. Hollywood is steadily grinding out leftist propaganda pieces, and any television show that's even remotely conservative gets canned faster than Amy Schumer on the way to Golden Corral.
In a world where the left rules the airwaves, I guess the power button is your only friend.
