We know the game plan.  The media is going to try and tie us to every ridiculous thing Donald Trump says.  Never mind the fact that he's not a Republican and his ideology changes every four years, he's self identifying as a Republican this cycle. He's "party-fluid."

The trick is to be smart enough to handle the media when Trump comes up.  Like, say, how Rick Perry does...

“Let [Trump] run on that, I will run on actual experience. [Voters are] not looking for rhetoric, they are looking for somebody who has been in the field of battle… whether it is job creation or whether it’s dealing with the border.”

This is the game. Donald Trump is going to try to out crazy everyone because he knows that's how you get media attention which is all he wants. Then, when he decides that he isn't really running (since he hasn't actually filed yet), leaves the rest of us to pick up the pieces. That's why GOPers need to do exactly what Rick Perry did.  Rhetorically pat him on the head and say "that's nice, but the grown ups are talking," and then switch to your record.

A record, that Rick Perry has a great one of...

Hopefully the other candidates follow.
