Red Power Ranger Arrested for COVID Relief Scam. Yes, You Read That Right.
My, how the mighty (morphing) have fallen. One day you are defending Angel Grove against Lord Drakkon. The next day you are defrauding the US government and cheating people out of COVID relief funds. That's where we find former red Power Ranger Austin St. John. Not to be confused with Ricardo Medina Jr., the red power ranger who killed his roommate with a sword. St. John is the OG red power ranger.
St. John (nee Jason Lawrence Geiger) was one of 19 people charged as part of a scam involving $3.5 million in fraudulent COVID relief funds. Geiger was arrested on Tuesday and sits in jail awaiting a hearing. If you are thinking as I did about how the mighty (morphing) have fallen, it gets worse. Geiger wasn't even the mastermind. He was one of the lackeys.
Geiger was a lackey who recruited others to use “an existing business or create a business” to apply for the loans as part of Biden's COVID relief bill. Those funds were meant for people who need them because they fell on hard times due to the pandemic. Or they were meant to pay off liberal special interest groups. In neither case did that include a Mighty Morphing Power Ranger.
If convicted, Geiger could face up to twenty years in prison. That would mean he'd miss the big Mighty Morphing Power Ranger reunion.
I'm just thankful it's him and not pink power ranger Amy Jo Johnson. After all that's happened with Alyssa Milano, I couldn't stand to have another childhood crush break my heart.
