There's been a lot said about the transgender bathroom laws in North Carolina and Mississippi, and the resulting debate (see Muslim Transgender ‘Outs Herself’ to Obama. Here’s What Everyone Missed… and ‘I’m Just a Bill’ (Schoolhouse Rock Transgender Parody). However, I don't think anyone has put more thought into their response than NFL star Ben Watson.

He posted about the bill on his Facebook page...

I've contemplated North Carolina's House Bill 2 for some time now. I've read it in its entirety, in an attempt to understand its motive as well as the visceral contempt its detractors have so prominently displayed.

Wait...you read the bill before commenting?

It is easy to offer personal anecdotes when digesting bills and laws like this. But my position has to be founded on a foundation more solid than my experience or my feelings.

It's not about MY daughters, MY sons, MY wife or even ME feeling violated, uncomfortable or threatened in the bathroom although these are definitely reasons enough. It's not about how obvious it is to ME that the privacy of men and women should be a given when using these types of facilities. It's not even about the many times I've "harmlessly" shared a bathroom facility with an individual who unbeknownst to me was transgendered or transitioning. Determining right and wrong is not about the depth of sincerity of those who desire their lifestyle be affirmed and legalized or what they hope that validation will provide their self-concept. As honest as these desires may be, self-fulfillment and public endorsement does not always determine the validity of an action.

What's disheartening is that we are buying the lie that feelings trump all else and that how one feels can only be accepted and celebrated instead of addressed and challenged.

If facts trumped feelings, leftists would have very little to talk about. So instead, they yell about hurt feelings and xenophobia-or-something-or-other.

Now, of course leftists will begin painting Ben Watson as a 'transphobic' bigot in 3...2...

But, allow me to revert you back to his actual writing. Read it. Really. Is there anything and I mean anything that is hateful about it? Truly, in your heart of hearts, does this read like the screed of an angry, prejudiced man just itching to commit a hate-crime? I know many leftists read this site, so I'd be curious to read your comments below.

Allow me to put forth a different presupposition. Maybe, just maybe, positions like those of Ben Watson (and a vast majority of Americans) are entirely tenable positions through logic, biology and reasoning. Maybe Ben Watson doesn't have to be a "transphobe" to simply believe in the basic concept than men and women are biologically different. Maybe Americans who support privacy rights can do so without necessarily "hating" men in dresses.

Here's my point. The left's entire argument on the trans-bathroom issue can be boiled down to the simple concept of "bigotry and hate!" Usually the substantiation used, includes the vilifying of "straight, white cis-males." This letter carefully, lovingly and thoughtfully written by a black man is a glaring counter-argument. Check back for updates as the left undoubtedly tars and feathers Ben Watson, because in the leftist, SJW hierarchy... chicks with wieners enjoy greater victim status than black Americans. In 2016 anyway. In a few months, that's apt to change.
