The issue of giving minors puberty blockers and gender reassignment surgery is a contentious one. You wouldn't think it would be. I'll just say the people who write Facebook's algorithm tend to disagree with a lot of you reading this post right now. Senator Rand Paul finds himself at the forefront of the debate. It started with him questioning Dr. Rachel Levine, Joe Biden's nominee for assistant health secretary, during the confirmation hearing. Video of the back-and-forth led to some calling Sen. Paul "transphobic."

The senator isn't backing down, and he tells Steven Crowder the issue is actually more horrifying when you think about it.

When you look at the actual issue, it's horrifying to think that the people Biden is appointing would actually say that a 10-year-old's opinion would override their parents' consent. So a parent says, "No, don't get anywhere near my kid," and the 10-year-old says, "I want to go to a gender clinic," and all these people who have already become activists and zealots for this — many of who have done the surgery to themselves — are there telling your 10-year-old kid how brave they are and how it's a great thing for their kid to do this. And the parents object, and [the activists] would take a 10-year-old's word over the parents. ...

Nobody in America believes that. I think maybe less than 1% of America think that's a good thing. But everybody is afraid of the media, because the media will beat the hell out of you and say you're a big hater if you bring it up.

A recent poll on allowing biological males to compete in girls' sports somewhat validates Sen. Paul's belief that the media is out of touch with the American people. That's another contentious debate the senator has found himself in the middle of.

The debate will continue to rage on, for at least the next two to four years of the Biden administration. My personal opinion is that the people who are pro-letting minors get life-altering surgery are on the wrong side of history here.
