The shortlist for Time Magazine’s Person of the year, the last time we checked, included the people of the migrant caravan and Christy Blasey-Ford. Any entity which makes Donald Trump (also a nominee), Republicans, or anyone who thinks men are men and women are women look bad. Right-leaning actress Patricia Heaton offered a much better idea.
Hey @TIME , why isn’t @GarySinise ever on the Person of the Year list? Hey @TheAcademy , why isn’t he ever picked for the #jeanhersholt humanitarian award? He raises $30M a year to build homes for wounded vets along with his #goldstarfamily support. Retweet! https://t.co/pj7BGEN7Ds

Gary Sinise has done well by the people. Sharing his feelings with Forrest about where the shrimp were hiding; helping wayward astronauts get home; now helping vets and their children go to Disney World. I’m just saying, the man’s done some good work. Setting aside him kidnapping Mel Gibson’s kid in the nineties. We all have our moments.
Time Magazine, the Academy, they’re all free to pick whomever they want. Though we’ve never spoken, I’ve got a feeling Gary Sinise isn’t doing the good work for awards, accolades, or for a chance to make a speech while holding a statue — he’s doing it because he wants to and he enjoys helping people.
Kind of seems like a fitting quality for a year-end honoree. Yeah?
