A Pakistani counter-terrorism court has sentenced to death a man who allegedly committed blasphemy on Facebook, a government prosecutor said on Sunday — the first time someone has been handed the death penalty for insulting the Prophet Mohammad on social media.

The conviction of Taimoor Raza, 30, follows a high-profile crackdown against blasphemy on social media by the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Blasphemy is a highly sensitive topic in Muslim-majority Pakistan, where insulting the Prophet Mohammad is a capital crime for which dozens are sitting on death row. Even mere accusations are enough to spark mass uproar and mob justice.

Well, color me shocked...

So, a guy logs in to "The Social Network" and cracks a couple of jokes about the prophet Muhammad, crap be upon him, and it's straight to the gallows? I'd hate to see the sentence for noshing on a delicious BLT sandwich. This sentence seems a little on the harsh side. Of course, not that we expect any less from a culture that approves of throwing kids off roofs for being effeminate and chopping up little girls' privates.

A few months ago, we wrote of Facebook entertaining an intimate relationship with the Pakistani government, wherein Zuck and company would help the Paki government root out potential blasphemers. Well, this is the end result of that unholy alliance. People hanging from ropes for the unfathomable crime of having unapproved ideas.

This is the world Islamists want to share with everyone. It's essentially Nineteen Eighty-Four, sans pork and toilet paper. Even worse, the left seems ready and willing to cave to their demands for a more sharia-compliant society. Hence Facebook happily taking up the mantle of Thought Police.

The left and their Islamic butt-buddies will tell you to make way for their preferred way of life. The words "tolerance," "inclusion," and "multiculturalism" will get thrown around. Don't fall for it...
