NRA Sues Florida Over Bill Raising the Minimum Age of Firearm Purchases
California easily wins the title "honorary state of special stupid." Usually without any competition. Florida is looking to change that. Their governor signed a bill today raising the minimum age requirement to purchase firearms. Big mistake. The NRA just slapped a sue sticker on that baby, claiming the bill violates the Constitution.
Here be the details:
The National Rifle Association has filed a federal lawsuit over gun control legislation Gov. Rick Scott has signed, saying it violates the Second Amendment by raising the age to buy guns from 18 to 21. The lawsuit came just hours after Scott, a Republican, signed the compromise bill Friday afternoon.Lawyers for the NRA want a federal judge to block the new age restriction from taking effect.
As they should. The Second Amendment doesn't say "valid only for those over the age of 21." It also isn't reserved exclusively to muskets, but we've been through this tired cycle plenty of times before. Still, gun control activists have no qualms dragging us through this fight again. Despite their blatant wrongness.
This is the second lawsuit against government idiots this week. Just a few days ago, a hero student from Parkland filed a lawsuit against the department of the thumb-twiddling sheriff (see Hero Student Files Lawsuit Against Broward County Sheriff’s Office). God bless America, the country where a person can sue anyone at anytime. Because the Constitution. The Constitution which leftists are currently trying to crumple and use as toilet paper.
Messing with the NRA is like stomping on a rattlesnake armed with an AR-15. With a chainsaw bayonet attachment. The organization bleeds red, white, and blue. Thus, they will take every step they can to preserve the rights of the American people. As they've done so repeatedly in the past (see NRA Calls For Federal Review of Bump Stocks After Vegas Shooting. What It Means.).
You'd think if the NRA were a terrorist organization, they wouldn't bother suing. They would storm the Florida capital with all those assault rifles. Assert their demands by force. Ignore all the laws. You know, ISIS style.
This is a perfect display of government failure. The government had plenty of chances to intervene in the Parkland shooting, from beginning to the very end. Instead of get involved when the shooter initially made threats, instead of running into the school to prevent more bloodshed, instead of accepting this responsibility, the government has instead flipped the blame and pinned it to the American people. This move says it's you who is to blame, not them. Thus you must suffer under even heavier legislation.
Speaking of gun legislation, we debunk it below.
