California Governor Gavin Newsom canceled the annual live public Christmas tree lighting that had been scheduled for Tuesday because of “protests across the country.” Although it is unclear which protests may have triggered the decision, it is possible it had something to do with the protests that disrupted the annual lighting of the giant Christmas trees at Rockefeller Center where several people were subsequently arrested.

So are we just going to start letting protestors dictate how we live our lives? Are we going to start canceling traditions to avoid radicals? And they are not just any radical protestors. They are radical protestors in his base.

What a total coward. He cannot even face the woke mob he fuels.

Pro-Palestinian protests have also disrupted tree-lighting ceremonies in New York, Michigan, and Massachusetts. Similar protests also shut down the California Democratic Party’s convention in Sacramento in Nov. So it is also likely he may want to avoid another public embarrassment. It is also possible that maybe his wife made him cancel.

The Sacramento Regional Coalition for Palestinian Rights had planned to march to the state Capitol. The group told KCRA 3 it wanted to out Newsom for hiding from the public.

"Governor Newsom decided to cancel the tree lighting ceremony rather than face the public that is enraged by his shameful silence on the genocide in Gaza. This certainly doesn't add up with his past stance with Native Americans," said Yassar Dahbour of Sacramento Regional Coalition for Palestinian Rights, according to Fox News.

“As we continue to see protests across the country impacting the safety of events of all scales – and for the safety and security of all participating members and guests including children and families – the ceremony this year will be virtual,” a Newsom spokesperson had stated. “The program is unchanged and viewers can tune in Wednesday evening to watch this year’s festivities.”

The California Highway Patrol also erected barriers and put up signs reading, “KEEP OUT, NO TRESPASSING” and warnings that the area was under surveillance.

How ironic that he wants to keep protestors away but when those signs are put at the border it is considered racism or something.

California GOP Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson said in a statement to Fox News that Newsom is a "modern-day Grinch."

"Gavin Newsom still won’t condemn the pro-Hamas and antisemitic protests that shut down his own party’s recent convention, so it’s no surprise he’d prefer to hide from a tree lighting where he risked being confronted by more protesters. Newsom is a modern-day Grinch whose cowardice is punishing the public and small businesses who'd planned on celebrating this joyous occasion," said Patterson, according to Fox News.

What a dumb move to punish everyone else because a select few may become “mostly peaceful.”
