Liberal Chicago Adding 9% Tax To Netflix. Guess What Happens Next…
Remember, you ignorant Tea Party lemmings, that liberals don't want to raise taxes on YOU. They only want to raise taxes on millionaires and billionaires. And, $250k a year...uum, aires.
I guess that means a lot of millionaires and billionaires and [place person who has more than you here] must use Netflix in Chicago, because they are raising taxes on it like it's well... their job.
A ruling by Chicago’s Department of Finance allows the city to add an extra nine percent tax onto “electronically delivered amusements” and “nonpossessory computer leases.”In an odd combination, buying a subscription to streaming media, such as Netflix or Spotify, would qualify, as would using a cloud computing platform, such as Amazon Web Services. Each would be subject to 9% tax; Chicago is the first major American city to levy a tax on either streaming services or cloud computing services.
This is just an extension of Chicago's "amusement tax." Yeah, about that...
Cities with amusement taxes have lost revenue as more people forgo book stores, record shops and video rental stores in place of online outlets.
By the way, Chicago has already lost a TON of city business because of these laws. Conventions have been moving to more business-welcoming cities like Atlanta, Dallas and Austin in recent years. Color me surprised...
$100 to the first GOPer smart enough to use this in their campaign, and have Hillary Clinton have to answer if she plans on raising Netflix taxes nationwide, or if she denounce the liberals in Chicago.
Go ahead. I'll wait. I'm binge-watching Walking Dead on Netflix while I still can. I've got time.
