The following video isn’t funny, and that’s the point. “We The Internet” has given us a double-whammy: a post-comedy comedy special making fun of the only group one is allowed to make fun of, straight white men. It is satire without being overly satirical, funny only in its accuracy. Watch and see for yourself.
Post-comedy comedy, as pioneered by Hannah Gadsby, is here to make you stare at the screen with a look of constipation on your face. Yes, constipation, not consternation.
I suspect we’re only allowed to mock straight white men (and straight white women are soon to be on the coming attraction list) because historically, straight white men had “all the power.” Note the word historically there. Because straight white men holding all the power, both in politics and business, is changing. Related: WAGE GAP? Female CEOs Make More Than Male CEOs. Waaaay More. Refusing to just allow this shift to stand on its own, the left is taking no prisoners and doing whatever it can to run straight white men out of everything. Those tolerant little snugglepuffs.
We’ve been over the problem of this before: mocking people for their race is racism. Assuming every person of the same race is the same is racism. Mocking someone for their sexual orientation, last I checked in the lexicon, was bigotry. Yet the left, which demands everyone else adhere to their rules, sees fit to mock a large swath of people based on their race and sexual orientation. Making fun of straight white men, demonizing straight white men, isn’t funny and benefits no one. That’s the point.
