Megan Rapinoe: Playing soccer for America? Literally the "worst job in the world"
Yes, Die Hard is a Christmas Movie! Dare your friends to change your mind with our new Christmas long sleeve!
I had thought we'd be done with Megan Rapinoe when she retired from soccer and God, as a retirement gift, struck down her Achilles tendon. Instead, a Netflix docuseries is coming out where she sounds as insufferable as ever.
According to the Washington Examiner, in Under Pressure: The U.S. Women’s World Cup Team, Rapinoe says of the only reason any of us know her, "I always say it's the worst job in the world because if you do your job, then you were supposed to, and if you do one hair less, then you are gonna get lambasted for it."
Could there be more to it than the quote that is working its way around the interwebs? Mayhaps. I'm usually better at doing independent research, but in this case, it would require me to watch a docuseries on soccer. It sounds enough like her usual smug, entitled self, so we'll run with it.
Rapinoe describes literally every job anyone works anywhere. You don't get a cookie for doing a job you are supposed to do, and you get called into the managers' office if you aren't meeting expectations. Using Megan's logic, every job is the worst job in the world.
And in the case of her job, it opened doors for her other people never have opened. Well, less her job as much as her using her job to express a political agenda progressives and the media (but I repeat myself) agree with. For THAT reason, Megan got a lucrative endorsement deal with Subway, even though she was so unlikable Subway franchises begged corporate not to air her commercial, and a job as a Victoria's Secret model even though... let's just say it cost the company BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of dollars.
All of the female athletes we can be promoting as role models for our daughters and nieces. Netflix, Democrats, and the media choose one who supports policies that make it harder for other young girls to have the same opportunities she did.
