There are some on the right who are calling this a “TMZ ambush” and complaining about TMZ’s biased reporting on the matter. Are we the only one’s who think that A.) this is just the kind of media coverage Marco Rubio wants, and B.) his campaign managers are probably the ones who tipped off TMZ as to where/when he’d be in the first place?
Sure, a tweet in the Conservative echo chamber telling us what we want to hear is lovely, especially if the liberal media attacks him for it. It’s great for page views and hate-clicks. What it doesn’t do however, is expand his reach to people who aren’t already inclined to vote for him.
By going on TMZ, he takes a viewpoint seen as mainstream in the Conservative sub-culture, and presents it to a mainstream audience. A mainstream audience, mind you, that while they’ve heard all about Cecil the Lion, probably have not heard about the Planned Parenthood videos… outside of their favorite celebrity lying about Planned Parenthood.
I mean, they also asked him about the other important issue of the day…Tom Brady.
I think Marco Rubio knows what he’s doing.
