If you were thinking of taking a trip to Europe in hopes of soaking up abundant culture and refinement, maybe rethink it. Opt instead to go to your local Costco. Home Depot. Waste Management. Because recent events have revealed Europe is but ten steps away from a full seismic cultural meltdown, complete with heavy samplings of Islamic terrorism. And if not full terrorism, the slow implementation of laws resembling Sharia. Just ask a Danish man who took heavy legal fire for setting aflame the "holy" book. The charges? Blasphemy. Reminder, we're not in Saudi Arabia. We're in DENMARK.

A man who filmed himself burning the Quran has become the first person to be charged under Denmark's blasphemy law in 46 years.

The 42-year-old filmed himself burning a copy of Islam's holy book in his back yard... He then posted a video on the anti-Islamic Facebook group, "Yes to freedom - no to Islam" along with the words, "Consider your neighbour: It stinks when it burns."

Danish prosecutor Jan Reckendorff announced his decision to bring charges in a press statement issued on Wednesday afternoon. "It is the prosecution's view that circumstances involving the burning of holy books such as the Bible and the Quran can in certain cases be a violation of the blasphemy clause, which covers public scorn or mockery of religion."

Again, this is happening in Denmark. As in not Pakistan. Not Syria. Not Lebanon. Not Iraq. Not Iran. Feel free to file this under reason #28392 detailing why Europe is the swarmpit of the first world (read Dear Crappy Europe: I'm Glad You Hate America...).

Notice what this law itself entails about freedoms? Danes have none. This anti-free speech rule prohibits any "mockery or scorn" of religion (Islam) in public. Thou shalt not roast the Quran. That is, neither with fire nor otherwise funny insults.

To be fair, Denmark's history is richly riddled with migrant problems, many of which they've addressed with creative solutions (see Let Them Eat Bacon: Denmark's Delicious Solution to Protecting Its Culture From Islam). Tis not the case in this situation. Clearly. It's even possible had this Dane doused a Quran with bacon grease he would've also been charged with blasphemy. One wonders if he'll be charged for female family members out in public sans face-veils. Hey, the slope is lubricated with bacon grease, tempting danger to all who may slip upon it.

The problem with this law is an obvious one. Rules like this aren't pro-religious protection. They're anti-freedom. They create cultures in which comedians can be jailed for simply saying the wrong jokes (see Comedian Mike Ward Fined $35k... For 'Offensive' Jokes?!), or harmless bystanders can be targeted for having the wrong thoughts (see UK Man Actually Arrested for Anti-Islam Thoughts). Monsters.
