I don’t know about you, but I appreciate Bill Maher. I certainly don’t agree with everything he says, but I don’t agree with everything anyone says, but he might be one of the last liberals who has his head screwed on in a way that keeps him from going completely insane.

Talking about the Florida Parental Rights Bill, Maher and his two guests discussed the need for the bill. Was it even necessary?

One of his guests doesn’t think so. He calls it a culture war issue—he makes a point to say he’s “a gay man who advocates for gay rights, so he might be a bit biased.

Maher’s second guest said it wasn’t.

“Republicans are trying to position as […] the party of everyday Americans, average Americans, and parents—people who are […] going to represent parents who say we deserve to have a say in our child’s education.”

When our gay activist guest chimed back in to ask if gender and sexuality education for young children was that big of an issue, Maher quickly and calmly dropped a bomb on him.

“The same this with the CRT thing. I feel like it’s disingenuous when the liberals say, ‘We just want to teach history.’ And like, no one’s against that. […] Most reasonable people are not against realistically teaching history. […] I don’t know what is going on with the gender as much. […] ‘Something LGBTQ advocates argue could lead to some students being outed to their parents.’ That phrase struck me as odd. […] Shouldn’t parents know everything anyway? […] In California, the school has more of those rights than the parent.”

Maher is right. There are those in the schools who believe they do have more of a right than the parents to such intimate knowledge of students. Parents need to sit down and respect the teachers’ authority.

This is an issue, and one worth addressing with legislation. DeSantis is doing just that, and the left can get upset about it all they want, but the fact that they are so distraught about this issue kind of proves the point, does it not? Their opposition to the will of parents only serves to prove they believe they have more of a right to the children than their parents.

If the left continues to go insane—which looks like the trend—I give it only a few years before Maher is voting Republican all the way down the ballot. Even he thinks the left is going too far.
