Lena Dunham Whines About Colleges 'Culturally Appropriating' ...Sushi?!
Colleges are perfect environments for social justice to fester and grow (see Dear High School Students: Don't Go to College. No Seriously...). The latest in college outrage? Cuisine appropriation (Liberals Bitch to NPR That Cooking Other Culture's Food is 'Racist.' Wow...). Think cultural appropriation, just more specific. And stupid. This is, of course, coming from the home-college of the queen (king?) of SJWs - Lena Dunham. It seems Dunham couldn't pass up the opportunity to get in on the whinage. She chimed in on the "issue" below.
Lena Dunham has spoken out in support of her old college, where students are protesting the use of "culturally appropriated food" like sushi in its dining halls. In a recent interview with Food & Wine magazine, Dunham called out the "insensitive" use of Japanese food in her alma mater's canteens.
"There are now big conversations at Oberlin, where I went to college, about cultural appropriation and whether the dining hall sushi and banh mi disrespect certain cuisines. The press reported it as, 'How crazy are Oberlin kids?' But to me, it was actually, 'Right on,'" Dunham said.
Apparently this comes down to disrespecting "certain cuisines." Not people - but the actual food itself. Her words, not mine. One can only guess this means that if you were to make a disgusting pastry and call it a "gourmet cake," it would be an insult to cakes everywhere... According to her social justice rules. Kind of like calling Lena Dunham a "woman" is an insult to women everywhere. Again, just a guess.
Might I remind us that all this outcry is over non-authentic food. As in, "ethnic" food cooked the wrong way. For instance; being made with different ingredients, prepared by a non-"ethnic" chef, etc. Though surely that doesn't stop Lena from inhaling "non-authentic" Taco Bell. Or everything else on this planet that's edible.
Flaming hypocrisy aside, this appropriation thing knows no bounds. Notice how leftists keep claiming that everything is appropriation? Listening to different music, having different hair, cooking different foods. So much for wanting diversity. Seems as though they want every race and culture to remain separate and segregated. Say, that sounds a lot like... RACISM!
Speaking of appropriation...
