Klingons Are an Analogy for Trump Supporters in 'Star Trek: Discovery'

Brodigan
September 09, 2017

Let me start off by saying Stars Wars > Star Trek. It always has been. It always will be. Please direct all complaints to yourmoms@louderwithcrowder.com.

Now, as for the new Star Trek: Discovery show? Spoiler alert! Hollywood doucheburgers with extra dilithium crystal aioli want to beat you over the head with politics.

“The allegory is that we really started working on the show in earnest around the time the election was happening,” showrunner Aaron Harberts says. “The Klingons are going to help us really look at certain sides of ourselves and our country. Isolationism is a big theme. Racial purity is a big theme. The Klingons are not the enemy, but they do have a different view on things. It raises big questions: Should we let people in? Do we want to change? There’s also the question of just because you reach your hand out to someone, do they have to take it? Sometimes, they don’t want to take it. It’s been interesting to see how the times have become more of a mirror than we even thought they were going to be.”

Right, "just raising big questions." That you're going to answer with clear good guys (Federation) and bad guys (Klingons). The sad thing, the producers or showrunners or whatever the hell they're calling themselves, probably honestly think their going to spur a conversation over this.

Look, this isn't every other conservative website dot com. I'm not outraged, and I'm not going to tell you to boycott a show I had no intention of watching in the first place. If Hollywood thinks we need another show that alienates half of their potential audience, whatevs. However, that doesn't mean I can't mock the stupidity of it. Or the think pieces that are going to come out, blaming half of their potential audience, then marvel when the show is cancelled after one season.

Just be aware Hollywood hates you. They don't take you seriously. Then they'll blame you for their failures.

So far, no response from Shatner yet (see PHASERS SET TO STUN: William Shatner Blasts Wimpy Leftists Over Use of “Misandry”). THAT will be interesting.
