Watch: Hero Drives BBQ Rig to Kentucky, Sets Up in Middle of Tornado Damage, and Just Starts Feeding People
Yes, Die Hard is a Christmas Movie! Dare your friends to change your mind with our new Christmas long sleeve!
When tragedy strikes, there are two kinds of people in this world: the Joe Bidens and the Jim Finches. The Joe Bidens in the world see something like the tornadoes that tore through Kentucky and think, "how can I shamelessly politicize this?" The Jims of this world buy a sh!tload of food, load their offset smoker in the back of a truck, and set up shop in the middle of the damage. Because the last thing people who lost everything they have need to worry about is eating.
This man drove half an hour with a grill and a truckload of food and parked right in the middle of #Mayfield, Kentucky. pic.twitter.com/xrVbrMdJ9S

For reference, this is the area where Jim set up shop.
This was the scene right before Jim Finch, the man in the video, set up his grill. There was later Church service in that parking lot across from him. pic.twitter.com/RQBvb2y1Ao

Jim's reason for doing this? Five words: It needed to be done.
Jim wore a smile the whole morning, we laugh when I asked if he had a restaurant. He shook his head, “it just needed to be done,” he said. pic.twitter.com/tpZ1LMvdOA

Every so often, a reminder that not everyone is terrible is welcome. That even in tragedy, the best of America can shine through. But more important than anything, these videos show the glory and power of BBQ. I say this as someone who takes his BBQ very seriously and won't stand to see the artform besmirched. No matter how bad things are good BBQ makes it better. Because here's what's most likely going to happen. Someone is going to see Jim Finch on the news, find out where he is, and show up with a few cases of beer. Someone else is going to show up with salads. Someone else is going to show up with banana pudding. BBQ brings everyone together.
People will start putting their lives back together again hanging out around that smoker. Cheers to Jim Finch!
