Joe Rogan on Roseanne: I Talked To Her and Believe Every Word She Said

Brodigan & Kirchoff
May 31, 2018

Joe Rogan brought up an interesting point about Roseanne. Similar to a question my friend Kira asked yesterday. Video of Joe is below, but here's the lead up:

Honest question...and I'm NOT shilling for anyone here. I really want your opinion. If ...IF....@therealroseanne di… https://t.co/QjKP8lpgT8
— QuarantinedQueen (@QuarantinedQueen)1527715671.0

It's a big IF whether or not you believe Roseanne. Personally, I have a hard time doing so. If Roseanne were a twenty-year-old, I may be more inclined to believe "she didn't know." Mainly because of how many twenty-somethings who don't know much. Or even don't know what they don't know. No, that's not an ageist comment. We were all twenty at some point. Life experience is a thing. Calm down.

But a sixty-five-year old not knowing? For the sake of being charitable, let me just say I'm skeptical. Like an agnostic about it. Maybe I can be swayed. But you'll need to give me compelling evidence. Beyond string theory and evolving from goo.

Unlike Rogan, I didn't talk to Roseanne on the phone. Joe did, and believes everything she said. Especially about the Ambien making people cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

Does Ambien make people loony? We're not Ben Shapiro's wife. No one here can say with certainty what Ambien makes people do and what it doesn't make you do. I will say, though, people need to be more careful about their behavior on social media. The internet goes out to the world. If you wouldn't say it in person, maybe don't shitpost it in a social media platform. Especially if you're prone to seven layers of nuttiness. Especially if you're rocking the substances like a wild co-ed on spring break.

Let me say this: I'm over the outrage. Less than twenty-four hours after Roseanne was fired for a possibly racist, possibly not racist tweet, we've seen Punk Band NOFX on Las Vegas Shooting: "At Least It Was Country Fans Killed" and Samantha Bee Getting "Social Change" Award After Vile Ivanka Attack. I'd say both are about as disgusting as a possibly racist tweet. If not worse.

Yet as of the writing of this post, both NOFX and Bee still have their careers intact. Despite networks and fans supposedly being intolerant of any kind of hatred, a la Roseanne. Either we demand decency of our celebrities, or we don't. This selective application of "These are not our values" TPS memos is exhausting and hypocritical. However you want to slice it up and snort it.

But maybe that's just me.
