The REAL Reason Comcast Wants Rob Lowe Gone...

Brodigan
April 08, 2015

There’s been a lot of stupid complaints lately about jokes, satire and people taking humor a lot more seriously than it ever should.  I think Comcast, which owns liberal MSNBC, may have set the new high standard in stupid complaints, when they filed a complaint challenging the claims made in Direct TV’s popular campaign with actor Rob Lowe.

According to Variety, the Council of Better Business Bureau’s National Advertising Division ruled in Comcast’s favor.

The group said that although “humor can be an effective and creative way for advertisers to highlight the differences between their products and their competitor’s, humor and hyperbole do not relieve an advertiser of the obligation to support messages that their advertisements might reasonably convey — especially if the advertising disparages a competitor’s product.”

Seriously, that can’t actually be the reason why a complaint was filed.  I mean, news of the decision DOES come days after this...

And this...

But the commercials are clearly satirical. Are there really people who think they “disparage” Direct TV’s competition, and that’s the reason why they suddenly want them pulled?

There has to be some other reason why people want those commercials pulled…

I don’t want it to sound like I’m implying that the real reason people want the commercials pulled are political. I would never be so presumptuous as to imply that the complaints stem from leftist butthurt over the fact that a successful actor would publically express right-wing opinions…except that I am. That is exactly what I am implying.

Am I the only one who thinks this smells fishy?
