You can’t have diversity, equity, and inclusion policies without exclusion. One high school in Illinois was so exclusive that they are now subsequently enforcing policies that are all too similar to the Jim Crow era.

A Chicago-area school district is attempting to boost academic achievement among black and Latino students by offering black-only and Latino-only classes referred to as “affinity” classes.

A high school in Evanston, Illinois, implemented this program back in 2019 that let students segregate by race to address learning gaps.

According to News Nation, advocates for the program say it can help make students feel more comfortable in the classroom, which “increases their chances of doing better.”

“Our black students are, for lack of a better word … at the bottom, consistently still. And they are being outperformed consistently," School Board Vice President Monique Parsons said.

The classes are also taught by a teacher of the same race.

Superintendent Marcus Cambell told school’s student newspaper that all of this was to provide “a different, more familiar setting to kids who feel really anxious about being in AP classes.”

The school district seems to have been able to dance around federal law by making these classes “voluntary.”

Nearly 200 students have signed up this year for math classes and a writing seminar intended for students of the same race.

I am sure the only reason students did sign up was to “address learning gaps.” It could not have anything to do with the possibility that these classes might just be a tiny bit easier.

Who will the school blame if students don’t improve because of these segregated classes? And what about the underachieving white kids? How is the district addressing those students?

Since 2015, Minneapolis, Seattle, San Francisco, and Oakland have been offering race-specific electives courses focusing on subjects like African-American history, according to the Daily Signal. However, Evanston is the first to expand race-segregated classrooms to subjects like math and English. Which is no surprise since math is racist.

Our Constitution explicitly does not protect equity, it protects equality. That is because equity requires preferential treatment of one person to mean the unfavored treatment of another. But because the left is so racist, they now live by the soft bigotry of low expectations. Subsequently, they are leaving Asian and white kids behind.

Anyone with half a brain can tell you that active racism is no longer the greatest barrier to minority achievement or advancement. And any racial divide is arguably a result of the left and its ideology.

If minority students feel they cannot achieve in a normal class setting, then that has everything to do with progressive “educators” telling them that the only way they can achieve is if they get special treatment.

We must hold all students to rigorous standards no matter what their circumstances. The left needs to stop making up excuses as to why certain people can’t achieve. That is the only way any learning can take place.
