You knew crime in liberal cities was bad. You didn't know it was scaring Ice T bad. Even the west coast rappers who used to run the Los Angeles streets are now afraid to test those very same streets.

The rap pioneer has gone from "Sucker die for your life when my shotgun scatters" to dropping bars like this:

Snoop has even endorsed a Republican for mayor. That's how bad things have gotten.

I know a lot gets made about crime being encouraged in hip-hop, but the games have changed a lot since the gangsta rap era of the early 90s. Not that I consider myself to be a good, studied hip-hop head, but rappers in 2022 appear to be more about mumbling and posting TikToks. When Ice T was coming up, he rapped about his life experiences and what he saw.

It makes you wonder how LA crime is going to inspire the next generation of West Coast rappers:
