Hillary Clinton Says 'It's Too Hard to Vote'. A Thorough Rebuttal...
Hillary Clinton wants to make voting easier, because she claims the reason why people don't is that it's too hard. Hold onto your butts...
This of course isn't a real issue. It's a make believe issue designed to fire up Hillary Clinton's low information base that gets their news from Comedy Central and the "I F***ing Love Occupy Democrats Uncut" Facebook page. Judging by the view count on this video, even her campaign strategists likely realized this and decided to bury it (only 6000 plays as I write this).
Seriously, how much easier can we make it? Let's even take Voter ID out of the equation, even though polls have shown that voter turnout has gone up in states that have passed laws. – turns out if something requires a tiny bit of effort, you appreciate it more. – In order to vote, you need to set aside 15-30 minutes on one day to drive to a school or a firehouse... and pencil in bubbles...
and you have a year's notice as to when that day is! In state's like New York – a progressive state that Hillary is from... kinda – polls are open for FIFTEEN HOURS on Election Day and your work has to give you time off to go vote, with even more time on Presidential years. Yet NY's last statewide election had only a 31% voter turnout. Genuinely, I can't possibly fathom making it any easier. Seriously, does anyone have any ideas? Comment below.
My hunch: the reason people don't vote isn't because it's difficult. The reason they don't vote is because they are either A) lazy, B) don't give a rat's rear-end, or C) are apathetic to the political process. All reasons, that as someone who works in politics, I totally understand.
As for making it so people can vote online? I'm gonna vote "no" on that one. Allow me to list a few reasons off the top of my head.
1. The Obamacare Website
2. Eric Snowden
3. The recent Chinese hacking of personal information.
4. All of your friends and neighbors who get the bulk of their news from the affore mentioned Facebook pages, and the misleading headlines of clickbait articles that they never even click to read.
Also, even though I said I wouldn't, I still have to make one tiny mention of voter I.D. Illegal immigrants do not and should not, have the right to vote. At all. Of course they shouldn't. Did I miss something?!
