I will never understand the cult-like devotion to high school football in the south. I live in the northeast where--*heavy sigh*--soccer is king. But our parents don't brawl in the stands. They just share passive-aggressive Facebook posts or ruin family dinners complaining about whose kid made what team. Shout out to my sister.

In Mississippi, high school football is on a whole different level. One football coach learned that the hard way at a rival game. This, friends, is what the kids call f*cking around and finding out.

Meet Jimbo Newell. Yes, as far as I know, that's his real name. He's the head coach for Heidelberg High School.

Per the fine folks at Whiskey Riff, ol' Jimbo went to the Vicksburg High School game to scout the rival team. He wasn't being inconspicuous because he was wearing his Heidelberg High School t-shirt. Words were exchanged. Voices got loud. Someone dared ol' Jimbo to come down and do something about it. Ol' Jimbo did, but it was the other guy who did something about it.

No one knows what set it off. But, apparently, ol' Jimbo was an assistant at Vicksburg two years ago. That may have been why it popped off on sight.
