Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Bans Sanctuary Cities. On Facebook Live!
Good morning Texas. Last night, Gov. Greg Abbott took to Facebook Live to sign a ban on sanctuary cities in the state. Lucky you. Some people use Live to video tape themselves grocery shopping. But Gov. Abbott, on the other hand? He uses it to help the people of Texas. Watch below...
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott made an unannounced appearance on Facebook live Sunday evening to sign a tough bill banning “sanctuary cities” in the state, thereby avoiding demonstrations opponents planned for later in the week when they thought he was going to put his signature on the legislation.
Abbott also blasted the one law enforcement officer in Texas who appears to have adopted any sort of policy resembling the amorphous concept of a sanctuary city, Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez, who said she would not cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement requests to hold immigrants while federal authorities investigate their status.
“This law cracks down on policies like the Travis County sheriff who declared she would not detain known criminals accused of violent crimes,” Abbott said.
Despite truckloads of leftist protesting and tantruming against such actions (see DNC Chair Accuses Trump Of ‘Bullying’… For Asking Sanctuary Cities to Enforce the Law and Watch Hillary’s Campaign Manager Short Circuit On Sanctuary Cities), Governor Abbott had the brass manberries to sign off on this bill anyway.
Contrast this with, say, de Blasio's attempt to shield illegal criminals from arrest. It comes as a breath of fresh air in the face of current states' attitudes regarding illegal immigrants. While California busies itself awarding illegals with scholarships, Texas is actually enforcing the law. Feel free to take notes, leftists.
Expect plenty of outrage to follow...
