The question of "who is the best Republican governor" comes down to a tie between
South Dakota's Kristi Noem
Florida's Ron DeSantis
. Both governors flipped middle digits to COVID policies and made their states bastions of freedom. To be fair, Kristi Noem never shut down a gosh darn thing. Unfortunately for Kristi, South Dakota flirts with negative digit temperatures and no thank you. But enough about the cold, let's get into what's hot.
spoke at CPAC on Friday, bringing the house down with an impactful speech nailing Big Tech, cancel culture, and honoring the late great Rush Limbaugh. You'll want to hear this one twice.
"Every Floridian has a right to earn a living, and all businesses have a right to operate. We are stronger as a state and happier as a people because of this leadership."
"Florida got it right, and the lockdown states got it wrong."
What got a resounding applause was when DeSantis took aim at Big Tech and the "Oligarchs in Silicon Valley." This is what I'm most eager to see play out. Those of us in conservative media complain about Big Tech all the time. We see the backend and know far more than we'd like to about the controlling, tyrannical nature of Big Tech and the edicts they seemingly decree with nary a pushback from our supposed leaders in government. Ron DeSantis taking action against Big Tech is monumental. It's the first time I'm aware of that an elected official has done more than sit before a camera and flap his lips. Here's looking at you House and Senate Republicans with your spicy viral videos which do nothing more than rack up views.
2021 isn't without hope, y'all. We've got Ron DeSantis forging new paths, and Kristi Noem smoking up the trail with her political and physical hotness. If the Republican party is to not only survive but thrive, we must make these two our leaders. Not the litany of feckless Republicans sitting fat and stupid in congress.
