Senator Ben Sasse Savages President Trump's Due Process Comments

Brodigan
March 01, 2018

President Trump had a pretty massive gun control flop on Wednesday. Yuge, even. It's bad. Don't try to defend it.

To sum up:

Has any conservative org been more aggressively supportive of Trump than the NRA? Yet today he: -Seemed open to as… https://t.co/9Ihqd1U0MB

All eyes are on the GOP to see how they react. Let's be real. If Obama said any of this we'd all be on Defcon 5. Rightfully so. Any President of the United States saying nuts to due process is disturbing. Think Michael Moore in a speedo. Or a Feminism Now meeting fighting over the last piece of cheese cake. It's bad. Again I say, don't defend Trump here. Stop.

Except there's not enough official outrage over Trump saying #MeToo to every leftist's gun control wet dream as there should be. Though there are exceptions. GOP Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) basically threw up both middle fingers. I so wanted to title this story Sasse Gets Sassy:

Strong leaders don't automatically agree with the last thing that was said to them.We have the Second Amendment and due process of law for a reason. We're not ditching any Constitutional protections simply because the last person the President talked to today doesn’t like them.

As a side note, as I was making the words form sentences, POTUS began his walk back. Fox & Friends must have mentioned how what he said yesterday was bad.

Many ideas, some good & some not so good, emerged from our bipartisan meeting on school safety yesterday at the Whi… https://t.co/aJ2m3fH3y3

Like Shapiro says, there's Good Trump and there's Bad Trump. Tax cuts and illegal immigration Trump has been solid. Wednesday's "I don't understand how the Constitution works" Trump was Horrible Trump.

Don't defend that level of ignorance. Don't!

Let's see how much more he walks things back today and the remainder of this week.
