Girls HS Volleyball Player Suffers Concussion Thanks To Male Opponent, Her Dad's Afraid Of Being Called "Transphobe"
A female high school student suffered a concussion in a San Francisco area volleyball game. I'd say stop me if you've heard this one before, but I know you have. Her opponent was a dude. But a dude who identifies as a girl. And the female high school student's dad is having a struggle session with himself because, on one hand, he doesn't want to deny the trans-identifying male's identity.
On the other hand, that trans-identifying male JUST GAVE HIS DAUGHTER A F*CKING CONCUSSION.
Shout out to Reduxx, who has been crushing it with the exclusives lately.
"Luis" is going by an anonymous name "due to fears about repercussions against his family," which I get... to an extent. Per Reduxx, Luis said one of the girls on the Half Moon Bay team seemed stronger than all of the girls on the team. “From a distance, It seemed like a boy dressed in a girl’s volleyball uniform."
Turns out, it was! A boy dressed as a girl who hit the ball in Luis's daughter's face while he was talking to other parents. When he turned around, he saw his daughter being led out of the gymnasium while holding her head, reporting blurry vision and head pain. A doctor confirmed she had a concussion. Now his daughter, who had racked up an impressive school athletic record, was out for the rest of her last season.
Luis wondered at what point does someone’s "gender dysphoria" cross the empathy boundary? Turns out for him, it was his daughter being concussed.
If I say something out loud, will my kid be ostracized at school? If I don’t say anything, will I be silently accepting boys playing against girls at schools? Are there parents that would shame me and my family for saying anything? Don’t get me wrong, I have empathy for the boy. I don’t know what it feels like for someone to be born male and not identify with that. Life must be difficult."
I admittedly start off with little empathy. On a scale of one to ten, maybe a three. That goes to a negative seventeen watching my daughter get injured. There would be ZERO concern for the boy, who Reduxx reports dad's a musician and his mother is a social justice activist. From the San Francisco area. Go figure.
These stories now feel more insane after hearing about the male field hockey player in Massachusetts who shattered a girl's teeth, hitting the ball in her face. Because he doesn't identify as a girl -- he's allowed to play on the girls' team because there isn't one for boys -- officials can openly admit it's wrong: "The shot was taken by a male member of the Swampscott girls’ field hockey team. While I understand that the MIAA has guidelines in place for co-ed participation under section 43 of their handbook, this incident dramatically magnifies the concerns of many about player safety."
Yet if a trans-identifying male player -- born with the same biological advantages in strength, size, and bone density -- injures your daughter, you have to go under an anonymous name to speak out.
Those of us who still have our testicles will speak out anyway.
