Uh Oh. Former Obama Official Admits to 'Collecting Intelligence' on Trump...
So... a former Obama official admitted on Morning Joe that a) the Obama Admin collected intelligence on Trump, and b) leaked it?
This seems newsy. Imma grab some popcorn.
“Because I had a fear that somehow that information would disappear with the senior [Obama] people who left, so it would be hidden away in the bureaucracy ... that the Trump folks – if they found out how we knew what we knew about their ... the Trump staff dealing with Russians – that they would try to compromise those sources and methods, meaning we no longer have access to that intelligence.”The comments come as lawmakers on Capitol Hill clash over House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes' claim last week that surveillance operations incidentally collected Trump team communications during the transition. Critics have accused Nunes of carrying water for Trump and called on him to recuse himself from Russia matters, but Nunes and his congressional allies have pushed back.
Here's where having a mainstream media that didn't suck would come in handy. See also Latest Poll Shows Even Democrats Are Tired of Media’s Anti-Trump Bias and New Poll Shows Americans… Trust Trump More Than Media. And a Trump media overreacting to things that didn't suck too, for that matter. Because on one side we have the "Trump is Literally Hitler!", which isn't helpful. And on the other side the "Trump is Going to Save Us All, OMG!" ra-ra media. Also not helpful. Intellectual honesty. A concept lost on media.
And no, stop it, we're offering you commentary and chucklage. We're not reporters. Reporters wouldn't be able to make up words on the fly. Like "chucklage." So don't.
But having a former Obama official admit, on television, what sounds like an admission which at least deserves a follow-up? Maybe a second question? "Are you admitting to being a leaker?" Want to bet the media isn't going to follow up for this at all, what with it directly interfering with "Trump is Hitler, Obama is a saint who never spies on anyone" narrative?
That's enough questions. Here's a statement: this story gives credence to the notion of the Trump Campaign being spied on. By Obama.
Kind of an awkward moment for the media, huh?
