Forget Roseanne. Netflix Just Dropped the Trailer for "The Ranch: Part 5"
There's been a lot of talk about TV shows appealing to Trump supporters. The big two being the canceled "Roseanne" and the returning "Last Man Standing." Overlooked is "The Ranch" on Netflix. Yes, there's a lot of cuss words and raunchy humor. But there also a lot of themes showing right-leaning people as something other than demonic. Like when Ashton Kutcher, as the lead character, played someone pro-life without being insulting in the slightest.
The trailer for "The Ranch: Part 5" was just released. Remember what I said about cuss words.
Conspicuous by his absence is now former cast member Danny Masterson (see Danny Masterson’s Publicist Gives Worst Excuse for His (Alleged) Rapey Ways… and Netflix Fires Danny Masterson Amid Multiple Rape Accusations). If I were to guess, his show write-off will probably involve Sam Elliot and a shotgun.
And yes, I know a line in the trailer went "Trump said some dumb s***." Spoiler alert: Trump says some dumb s***.
What makes "The Ranch" work is it's more "Last Man Standing" than "Roseanne." The show is about a family first. Any right-leaning themes are expressed through the characters. But it doesn't dominate the show. As opposed to "Roseanne," where it was like they were just checking off boxes for the pro-Trump cash grab. I still found it funny. But let's be honest with ourselves.
I've already taken June 15th off so I can binge watch.
